Blog Day of Silence

I'm sure you have seen this on a few other blogs but just in case you haven't, there is an email going around regarding today as a "blog day of silence" in honor of the those that were killed in Newtown, Conneticut. I heard about the tragedy on Friday and spent the majority of the weekend in utter shock and deeply saddened. As someone who spent years working with children and studied crime and psychology for my entire college and graduate school life, I couldn't fathom or rationalize what had occurred. As the daughter of a long-time teacher, it hit especially close to home.  There are no words adequate enough to express the sorrow, shock, and disbelief that many people are feeling. There are no words to try to rationalize and make sense of the utter chaos that took place. I won't even attempt to imagine what the families of those lost are going through - really, there are no words. So to honor those lives lost at Sandy Hook Elementary, I'm stepping away from the blog for today to spend time remembering those killed, spending time with my own family, and being grateful.
